Work with relational data in Azure

Microsoft via Microsoft Learn

Overview

  • Module 1: Find out what makes Azure SQL Database a good choice for your relational database, how to create the database from the portal and connect with Azure Cloud Shell.
  • In this module, you will learn:

    • Why Azure SQL Database is a good choice for running your relational database
    • What configuration and pricing options are available for your Azure SQL database
    • How to create an Azure SQL database from the portal
    • How to use Azure Cloud Shell to connect to your Azure SQL database, add a table, and work with data
  • Module 2: Plan and implement the migration of relational data from SQL Server to Azure SQL Database. Select the appropriate migration strategy for your database, and then use Data Migration Assistant to do the assessment and the migration.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Select a migration strategy for your relational data stored in SQL Server
    • Perform a migration from SQL Server to a single Azure SQL database by using the process of migration with downtime
  • Module 3: This module is a no-code introduction to PostgreSQL on Azure, including an explanation of particular problems that using Azure Database for PostgreSQL can solve. At a high level, we show how the components fit together and identify situations where you should use Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Describe the components of Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
    • Identify situations when to use Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
  • Module 4: Learn how to create SQL elastic pools and how to use them to manage performance and cost for a collection of SQL databases.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Create an elastic pool
    • Add databases to an elastic pool
    • Configure database performance in an elastic pool
  • Module 5: Secure an Azure SQL database to keep the information safe and diagnose potential security concerns as they happen.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Control network access to your Azure SQL Database using firewall rules
    • Control user access to your Azure SQL Database using authentication and authorization
    • Protect your data in transit and at rest
    • Audit and monitor your Azure SQL Database for access violations
  • Module 6: Create an Azure SQL database to store data for an application, and create an ASP.NET application to query data from the database.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Create, configure, and populate a single database in SQL Database
    • Configure an ASP.NET application to query the database
