Participating in sports and exercise can be a positive way to relieve stress for athletes, but it can also lead to negative effects on mental health when an injury occurs. This lecture will examine the psychological issues commonly associated with a sport injury and rehabilitation in late adolescents and young adults. Discussion will include interventions to educate athletes and their social support system about what to expect and how to mitigate potential psychosocial issues.
