Back pain in the pediatric population can be due to varying causes ranging from a muscle strain to a more serious condition. This lecture will discuss approaches to diagnosing, imaging, and treating common causes of back pain including a condition called spondylolysis which can be a common cause of back pain in the pediatric population. Proper diagnosis including appropriate imaging is necessary for optimal outcomes. Discussions will include the non-operative and operative management of spinal injuries in the pediatric population.
