via FutureLearn Program

Overview

As more industries and businesses enter the digital age, decision-making and strategic direction is becoming ever more reliant on digital sources and data. It is critical that this data remains accurate, free of bias, and most importantly, secure.

This microcredential will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to align your personal online profiles and workplace data with cyber secure business practices.

Gaining a general awareness of cybersecurity threats, you’ll learn practical techniques that can be applied in your employment and daily life. This understanding will help you be better positioned to identify, recognise, and combat threats to your organisation and implement solutions to cyber problems.

By the end, you’ll know how to protect your organisation’s interests and digital supply chains, ensuring you remain not only competitive, but safe from hackers.

Delve into cyber crime and cybersecurity

Unpacking models used by industry professionals, you’ll gain an understanding of the various types of cyber-related threats and how they target and impact organisations.

Through these studies, you will develop your ability to recognise threats and respond accordingly to minimise risk and reduce response times.

Understand how supply chain data falls victim to cyber threats

You’ll unpack supply chain data as a cyber target and the impact that cyber attacks can have on an organisation. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to identify cybersecurity threats and risks in the supply chain environment.

To help promote cybersecurity within your workplace and limit the impact of online security breaches in a supply chain context, you’ll also learn how to report cyber threats.

Unpack cybersecurity strategies

To help you mitigate cyber threats, you’ll explore the different strategies you can implement including administrative, technical, and physical.

You’ll also develop a strategy roadmap to use in your context in line with your workplace policies and procedures.

Learn how to prevent cyber attacks

You’ll further your knowledge of cybersecurity prevention strategies by delving into future-planning your personal profiles or organisation.

The skills you learn on this microcredential will help you meet the legal and ethical requirements in business, no matter what size of the enterprise.

Through the implementation of these skills, staff and organisations will be more compliant with data laws, which will protect the company and consumer assets and ensure a greater level of security.

How will I be assessed?

The microcredential contains two assessments. One will require you to review a case study and summarise the cybersecurity threats and issues in a report.

For the second assessment, you will develop a cybersecurity plan that is in line with workplace policies and procedures.

These assessments provide you with an opportunity to apply the concepts and skills you have learnt throughout this microcredential.

How will cybersecurity skills help my career?

This microcredential will arm you with the transferable cybersecurity skills that can be applied to a broad range of industries who utilise supply chains. You’ll learn practical skills to apply to roles that support policies, procedures, and practices within an organisation utilising cyber technology.

The teachings align to industry standards (e.g. SFIA’s standards of PENT and VUAS) and requirements of skills needed by employees working in a cybersecurity role.

What will I receive?

Upon successful completion of this microcredential and the two assessment tasks, you’ll receive a digital badge of completion.

You may also be eligible for up to five Australian credits (equivalent to 50 learning hours constituting one third of a full course/unit in higher education at Federation University). The eligibility will be issued at the discretion of the relevant Institute of Federation University.
