My course is on Academic writing. Thanks to Dr. Shetty and his team, the course was indeed a new and explored one. I have enjoyed the sessions and the lectures. The teachings were done so perfectly with the visualised presentation of contents. I was looking for such type of course for many years and finally, you fulfilled my wish to know more about research, guidelines about research, plagiarism, open educational resources, paper writing, thesis writing and many such significant topics for a researcher to know and understand about the various aspects of research.

A literature review also includes a critical evaluation of the material; this is why it is called a literature review rather than a literature report. Nicely illustrate the difference between reporting and reviewing, think about television or film review articles. These articles include content such as a brief synopsis or the key points of the film or programme plus the critic’s own evaluation. Similarly the two main objectives of a literature review are firstly the content covering existing research, theories and evidence, and secondly your own critical evaluation and discussion of this content. Usually a literature review forms a section or part of a dissertation, research project or long essay. However, it can also be set and assessed as a standalone piece of work in this course. summarise and analyse previous research and theories;

First of all, I thank the course coordinator Dr. Ajay Semalty of the course "Academic Writing" for offering this opportunity to learn about this course at the right time. He and his team lead us in an interested manner to learn the same. The course is framed in such a way that it meets the learners requirement quantitatively and qualitatively. Most of the lectures have been delivered by Dr. Ajay Semalty and they are quite understandable and learner-friendly.
The short video lectures made learners to listen with more interesting and attentive, not boring. Especially, it will be more and more interesting if the lectures will be made like the one in Week 9. The way of making learners, to get more confidence in attending the graded quiz by having more ungraded assessment in between every module, is quite appreciable.

The content covered weekly is quite relevant to the topic. The topics are covered in parts (broken down from each module) that are easy to follow. There is written material of the topic covered which is easy to look at when you do not have the time to listen to the full lecture that week.
The course is up to date on the recent trends, tools and databases necessary for AW. There are several references, lbd exercises and links provided for further reading which are immensely beneficial. The discussion forum is quite interactive and contained the answers to all my queries as they had been asked by fellow students and promptly answered. I found the first subjective assignment incredibly useful as well since it was a certificate course very relevant to the subject. The layout of the course is very methodical and helps you pick right back at wherever you had last stopped. There is sufficient time provided by the course to complete all the weekly graded quizzes and assessments.

However, for a course of this magnitude of takers, I have noticed certain drawbacks, which I hope are addressed in the coming years:
1) As a course on academic writing, please make sure the grammar and spellings on the written material are correct. A lot of the sentences are running and do not make sense, as they seem to be directly transcribed from the lecture and not proofread.
2) Please make sure there are closed captions (CC) for the lectures for students that are deaf. This is easy as the material is already transcribed and just needs to be captioned into the video.
3) Some of the modules are quite repetitive and become redundant, especially in the later units.

However, I highly recommend this course to anyone who is a beginner (such as myself) as well as anyone who would like to better their Academic Writing skills. A lot of ethical concepts on AW are addressed in the course which has been my favourite aspect to learn about.
