ABOUT THE COURSE: The course revolves around maternal health that refers to the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period. All the phases of normal parturition has been discussed in detail regarding their routine antenatal care and assessment of both the mother and the foetus so that anything abnormal can be detected early and managed accordingly. Starting from the physiology of pregnancy, the healthy development of the fetus inside the mother's womb and there by ending in the birth of a healthy live baby, the steps and sequences has been elaborated. Most maternal deaths are preventable with timely management by a skilled health professional working in a supportive environment.
