Understanding FreeCAD - Beginners Course

via YouTube

Overview

This course is designed to provide an introduction to the 3D modeling software FreeCAD. Starting from the basics of Part Design Workbench, it incrementally increases in complexity until you have mastered the skills and techniques you need to model a complex piston crank shaft assembly animation in Part Design A2Plus. Students will learn how to use features to create parametric multi-body projects, different ways to scale and pattern features with formulas, curve or curvature creation, shape binder hinged box, revolves and grooves as well as complex modeling with additive lofts. Additionally, students will cover draft faces and rotate/angle edges, formulas for wheel nut replicas, and complex treads on tyres using both the Part and Part Design workflows. Overall, the course gives a thorough overview of Part Design techniques, from the fundamentals to the more advanced techniques needed for modeling a Formula 1 car nose cone or wheel hub.
