Learning with MOOCs 2022: Abstracts Due on April 7

The conference welcomes submissions on all facets of MOOCS, including design, delivery, and analytics.

The 8th edition of the IEEE conference Learning with MOOCs will take place in Antigua, Guatemala, on September 29–30, 2022.

The last edition was already supposed to take place in Antigua, but due to the pandemic, the event had to be moved online. This year, the current circumstances allow again for an in-person event.

The conference welcomes submissions on all facets of massive open online courses, including design, delivery, and analytics, both in research and industry. This year, in particular, the event also invites submissions on the impact of MOOCs during the pandemic.

If you’d like to submit a contribution, don’t wait: the deadline for sending extended abstracts is April 7, while the final papers are due on May 30.

Theme & Topics

In 2022, the theme of the conference is “From the Pandemic to the Remote World”, expanding the event’s focus — MOOCs as catalysts of the Industry 4.0 — to discuss the role MOOCs played during the pandemic and are expected to play in the so-called post-pandemic world.

More specifically, the conference is interested in the following topics, among others:

  • MOOC curricula design & development
  • MOOC-based online degree programs
  • MOOC usage in the workplace
  • Learning analytics in MOOCs
  • AI applications in MOOCs
  • MOOCs & the pandemic

You can find a more complete list of topics here.

Having attended the conference several times, I’ll say that while it has a notable penchant for hard research, it’s also an opportunity for discussions with industry practitioners, including MOOC instructors and MOOC platform leaders, making for a well-rounded event.

Program & Call for Papers

While the specifics of the program have yet to be determined, like in previous editions, the event will include keynote sessions, full-paper presentations, lightning talks, poster sessions, and workshops.

In addition, the conference sessions will be interspersed with social events, facilitating discussions, networking, and collaboration.

If you’d like to submit a contribution, you can find the author guidelines here. Extended abstracts are expected by April 7. You’ll know if your submission is accepted by April 25. And if accepted, you’ll be invited to send your full submission by May 30.

You can find all the details about the various conference deadlines here.
