OpenLearning Launches learn.com.au to Offer Vocational Training Courses

Australia’s MOOC provider launches a new initiative with courses that are free to learn and cost for certification.

OpenLearning, the MOOC provider based out of Australia, has launched a new initiative called learn.com.au. With learn.com.au, students from around the world can take courses for free, and can pay to gain an Australian accredited qualification via OpenLearning partners.

AFQ Levels

The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) establishes the quality of Australian qualifications. These qualifications are divided into ten different levels. Learn.com.au currently offers two Level 4 or Certificate IV qualifications.

One qualification is on Leadership and Management and costs $1500, while the other is on Business and costs $1250. Each certification consists of 6–8 core courses and 4 electives. Like most MOOCs, the individual courses can be taken for free, and they cost around $125 each to certify.

The learn.com.au courses will be created by IBSA (Innovation and Business Skills Australia). They’ll be certified by Hunter TAFE, which is one of the largest regional vocation, education, and training providers in Australia.
