Shoulder pain and overuse injuries in the overhead adolescent athlete have become more common with the increase in demand of youth sports and sports specialization. During this lecture, participants will learn about the pathophysiology of shoulder pain in overhead athletes, and its relationship to overuse injuries. A review of the shoulder physical examination and prevention of injury will be discussed. Participants will also be presented with a physical therapy perspective to further understand the indications for specialized care as well as various treatment options.
