Project Management Principles and Practices

University of California, Irvine via Coursera Specialization

Overview

This specialization is a precursor to the Applied Project Management Certificate. Project management has been proven to be the most effective method of delivering products within cost, schedule, and resource constraints. This intensive and hands-on series of courses gives you the skills to ensure your projects are completed on time and on budget while giving the user the product they expect. You will gain a strong working knowledge of the basics of project management and be able to immediately use that knowledge to effectively manage work projects. At the end of the series you will be able to identify and manage the product scope, build a work breakdown structure, create a project plan, create the project budget, define and allocate resources, manage the project development, identify and manage risks, and understand the project procurement process.

    Not a great course
Probably it's me, but i couldn't get along with the teaching of Margaret Meloni, some times trying to be fun, without any effective result.
Slides are mostly read, without great added value. Too many references to a book said to be not compulsory. There are too many poured notions without practical explanations or case studies.
The course gives you just a smattering of the subject, nothing that you can apply with confidence on the job.
The course is not compelling in any way.
The best part of the course is the "Case Study", short cartoons with a quiz, probably taken from another course from UCI, useful for outlying common misunderstandings in a real job context.

I absolutely loved this course! It was very well structured and had lots of material to go through, but mostly I enjoyed the capstone project, since it made you actually apply all what you've learned throughout the course.

Classcentral literally put some sense into my life during a rather uncertain and unstable phase in my life. It grants you a quite accessible tool to literally a massive amount of courses you can learn sitting on your sofa or at your kitchen table. It's just awesome! Thank you ;)

    Excellent Course - Definitely Recommed
Excellent Coverage of the role of project management application to various aspects of life & work activities. You would love the capstone as you see how PJM across board.

Ready to sit the CAPM exam or if you have the hours of project experience the PMP exam upon completion.

    Warning: Requires hard work.
