Whether you are a new filmmaker working in documentary, narrative, or creating online video content, this class will offer you new tools and techniques to enhance the lighting of your visuals.  

Follow along as cinematographer Lucas Gonzalez guides you through his process of lighting techniques, favorite tools, and setups, which you can exercise at home.

You will learn the following: 

  • How to create unique lighting looks for videos.
  • Utilizing and controlling natural lighting in any space you find yourself in.
  • The differences between creating a beauty light and a standard 45-degree keylight. 
  • How to use the 3 point lighting system to your advantage.

Lucas Gonzalez is an artist and cinematographer from Colombia, based in New York City. Exploring the complexities of queerness, race, class, and migration, their documentary and narrative work has been screened at Newsfest, Tribeca, Inside Out, DC Black Film Festival, Blackstar, Jacob Burns, CultureStrike, among others. They are also recognized for their commercial work with companies like Vogue, Spotify, Skillshare, Tidal, Complex, Verizon, and TinyGiant.
