This course is intended to train the volunteers for Palliative care through Yoga. The prime focus of this course will be on Palliative care needs for the geriatric population. The course will give knowledge about Palliative care, and the scope of Yoga in Palliative care for the geriatric age group. The course is divided into two parts. The theory part will include concepts of Healthy aging, demographics of aging, geriatric palliative care, and morbidities in the aged population like geriatric depression, frailty, and memory disturbances. It will also include the yogic approach towards healthy aging, and diseases and/or disability management related to aging through yoga. The second part will concentrate on practical sessions related to asanas, pranayama, relaxations, adopted techniques of yoga (chair yoga), and specific modules for frailty, geriatric depression, voice changes, and eye sight. Come let us work with the knowledge of yoga to improve the health of our elderly population.

Module 5 – Role of Yoga in Healthy Aging

Module 6 – Palliative Care in Frailty

• Week 4 –

Module 7 – Depression in Older Adults

Module 8 – Role of Yoga in geriatric depression

Module 9 – Dementia and Palliative Care in Elderly

• Week 5 –

Module 10 – Memory, Dementia, and Assessment of Dementia

Module 11 – Symptom Management in Dementia

Module 12 – Role of Yoga in Dementia and Cognitive Disability

• Week 6 –

Module 13 – Introduction to Parkinson’s Disease

Module 14 – Palliative Care for Parkinson’s Disease

Module 15 – Role of Yoga in Parkinson’s Disease

• Week 7 –

Module 16 – Sukshma Vyayama I (Neck Movements –Shoulder Movements, Elbow Movements Wrist Movements, Finger Movements).

Module 17 – Sukshma Vyayama II (Sitting Hip Movements, Knee Movements, Knee cap tightening, Ankle Movements, Toe Movements).

• Week 8 –

Module 18 – Breathing Practice I (Hands in and out breathing, Hand stretch breathing, Ankle stretch breathing).

Module 19 –. Breathing Practice II (Tiger breathing, Shashankasana breathing, Setubhandasana breathing).

Module 20 – Chair Surya Namaskar

• Week 9 –

Module 21 – Asana I – Tadasana, Arda Kati Chakrasana, Kati Chakrasana

Module 22- Asana II- Vakrasana, Janushirshasana, Bhadhakonasana, Sukhasana

Module 23 – Asana III – Makarasana, Bhujangasana, Ardha Shalabhasana

• Week 10 –

Module 24 – Asana IV -– Shavasana, Straight leg raising, Lumbar Stretch, Pavanamukthasana.

Module 25 – Relaxation Techniques - Instant Relaxation Technique (IRT) & Quick Relaxation Technique (QRT), Deep Relaxation Technique (DRT).

Module 26 – Pranayama I – Sectional Breathing (Vibhagiya Pranayama), Surya Anuloma – Viloma, Chandra Anuloma – Viloma

• Week 11 –

Module 27 – Pranayama II – Nadishuddi, Seetali, Shitkari, Sadantha.

Module 28 Pranayama III – Bhrahmari, Nadanusandhana

Module 29 – Pranic Energization Technique (PET)
