  • This course was not my piece of cake. The core is a set of youtube video's by Hank Green, based on a study book. The video's are fast and dynamic, on top of that they are edited, e.g. the space between the sentences are cut away. This makes the pace…
  • Dense course, but thoroughly enjoyable and swift moving in a way that logically built on itself. I appreciated that there was insight into the twin phenomena of "History through a Patriarchal Lens" and "History through a Western/White Lens" and that…
  • The History of Science Crash Course is a fast-paced overview of how our understanding of the world (and of the knowledge-gathering process itself) has evolved since Ancient times. The course emphasizes breadth over depth, focusing on specific milestones: pre-socratics philosophy, Middles Eastern medicine, Newton's laws of motion, DNA discovery, you name it.

I took the course via Class Central's study group. So every week, I met with other learners on Zoom to review the material and discuss what we'd learned. Since the course explores plenty of topics, is well presented, and is beautifully animated, it made for some really pleasant conversations during meetings.
  • This course was an interesting approach to the learning possibilities of a platform like YouTube, still underrated as I see it. About CrashCourse, I found Zack funny and entertaining, with good quality videos covering the most essential subjects of the matter; though the overall approach I found ethnocentric.

Even when I took the course via Class Central, I couldn't enjoy enough of the Study Group live sessions, great team and fellow classmates, who had a wider approach than the responsible for the original course. The plus for me, altogether with my class, are Fabio's flashcards, I hope many college students can enjoy them.
  • This was a surprisingly great course. It's fast paced and rich in content, even though it's supposed to be only an overview of so many scientists and natural philosophers. I had to watch at least twice each video to grasp the concept. Also, something that helped was being in the Class Central Study Group and creating flashcards and slides to help me fix the content.

Tip: You can find ready-to-use flashcards on Quizlet, Kahoot, or Quizizz searching by topic. Here are the ones I've made: https://quizlet.com/class/19463011/

Downsides: Crash Course don't provide certificates and practice test.
  • An excellent overview of scientific knowledge from thousands of years ago to the present. It would have been hard to decide how to arrange the material, but Hank Green and the Crash Course team have produced a great result.
  • course is very good, The theoretical classes were completed on youtube, the contents are relevant and good for learning.
  • The course was well organized, and each element was simply and clearly encompassed and explained.I liked the fact that the order of discovery of each science and element was followed because it allowed the learners to easily follow with the course.
  • Hank Green and the Crash Course team did a wonderful job of summarizing the history of science. Each video is action packed with information presented in a visually appealing. Sometimes it did feel overwhelming and the fast paced nature of the videos took a while to get used to.

I did course as part of a study group at Class Central and we had many lively Zoom discussions.

  • This course was not my piece of cake. The core is a set of youtube video's by Hank Green, based on a study book. The video's are fast and dynamic, on top of that they are edited, e.g. the space between the sentences are cut away. This makes the pace very dynamic, however not very easy to digest, spaces between sentences are needed to process the information in your brain. I quit the course after the first week.

Youtube videos alone is a very limited approach to learning, no time to reflect and repeat, think and associate. Thank you

  • I'm feeling very happy to complete this course. Its very interesting & clearly volume. We can learn many thing from this course.
