Drawing Electrical Plans in AutoCAD

via Pluralsight

Overview

In this set of AutoCAD tutorials, we'll learn how to draw a basic electrical plan using AutoCAD. Software required: AutoCAD 2015.

In this set of AutoCAD tutorials, we'll learn how to draw a basic electrical plan using AutoCAD. We'll begin the project by drawing a few symbols to represent important elements within our plan like lights, fixtures, switches, and outlets. Once we've created these symbols, we'll then create blocks for these symbols that we can use for future projects. After creating and writing the blocks to a library, we'll then generate a drawing legend illustrating the symbols we've created, the quantity as well as a description of what the symbols represent. We'll also generate a material cost estimation for the wiring in our project. Finally we'll layout all our electrical symbols in each space on the ground floor and we'll also map out how these are all connected using connection lines. By the end of this AutoCAD training, you'll know how to draw symbols commonly used in electrical plans, create reusable blocks from your symbols, work with geometric constraints, and also generate a drawing legend using tables. Software required: AutoCAD 2015.
