Metamorphism of Basalt and Gabbro - Metabasite Mineral Assemblages

This course covers the metamorphism of basalt and gabbro, exploring the predictable transitions in mineral assemblages based on pressure and temperature. The learning outcomes include understanding the formation of greenschist, blueschist, amphibolite, granulite, and eclogite facies. Students will learn to identify minerals such as actinolite, chlorite, epidote, albite, sodic amphiboles, garnet, hornblende, and omphacite in different metamorphic settings.
