The National Centre for Research Methods via YouTube

Overview

This is a 6-part course on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Part 1 provides an overview of SEM, its uses, and key ideas and terms. Part 2, by Patrick Sturgis, provides an introduction to Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) in SEM. In part 3, Sturgis continues to discuss CFA and explores the transition from Measurement Model to Structural Model. Part 4 introduces non-recursive and recursive models in SEM, followed by Part 5 which covers mediation models and their respective direct/indirect/total effects. Finally, part 6 is a comprehensive look at SEM, taking into account all the topics discussed in the previous parts.

Syllabus

Mediation models: direct, indirect and total effects (part 6 of 6).
Recursive and non-recursive models (part 5 of 6).
From Measurement Model to Structural Model (part 4 of 6).
Confirmatory Factor Analysis; Patrick Sturgis (part 3 of 6).
Key ideas, terms & concepts in Structural Equation Modeling; Patrick Sturgis (part 2 of 6).

The course provides a thorough introduction to SEM, covering a wide range of topics from confirmatory factor analysis to path analysis. It’s designed to extend statistical understanding beyond correlation and regression, diving into the nuances of SEM. The course content is well-structured, making complex concepts accessible to beginners while still being detailed enough for those looking to deepen their knowledge.

The course covers a lot of theoretical aspects. Though it should also use examples. A lot of the time i felt lost without illustrations.

Very direct and to the point narrative. There should be more examples or illustrations with regard to concepts.
