Bridging the Gap between QoE and QoS in Congestion Control - A Large-scale Mobile Web Service Perspective

USENIX via YouTube

Overview

This course aims to teach learners how to bridge the gap between Quality of Experience (QoE) and Quality of Service (QoS) in congestion control for mobile web services. The course focuses on the challenges of optimizing QoE for congestion control algorithms (CCAs) and introduces Floo, a QoE-oriented congestion control selection mechanism. By implementing Floo in a mobile web service application and utilizing reinforcement learning for CCA selection, learners will acquire the skills to improve QoE by selecting the most appropriate CCA in real-time and enabling smooth CCA switching during transmission. The teaching method involves presenting theoretical concepts and practical implementation through extensive experiments in production environments and various network conditions. This course is intended for individuals interested in enhancing user experience in mobile web services and optimizing congestion control algorithms for improved QoE.
