Nanodegrees are a micro-credential created by Udacity and focussed on in-demand skills. Nanodegrees consist of video courses and projects that are graded by humans. To earn a Nanodegree micro-credential students needs to complete the required projects. Nanodegrees allow you to re-submit projects multiple times if necessary, until understanding and mastery is reached.
Nanodegrees can range from 1 month to 9 months long. A few Nanodegrees have a monthly subscription, but the rest are fixed price and term based i.e with a fixed start date and end date. Some of the longer Nanodegrees are split into multiple terms. If students don’t finish the required projects before the end date, they get an automatic one month extension. There is no other deadline and students can move as fast as they want. Udacity recommends that students don’t rush too much, as the knowledge is retained better when more time is taken to learn.
These Nanodegrees can range from $199 to $2400. A few Nanodegrees are on a monthly subscription, but the rest of the Nanodegrees are fixed price and term based. For students in term-based Nanodegrees, if they don’t finish the Nanodegree within the allotted time (including extension), they lose access, and need to sign up again and pay the full price for the term.
